What’s your favourite place or subject 
to photograph, and is there one image 
you’ve taken that holds special meaning 
for you? 
The Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour 
are fantastic places to shoot. The challenge 
though is that to get the shot, you can’t just turn 
up and shoot any day of the week. The moon 
rising over the Opera House, lightning strikes, 
New Years fireworks and crazy storm clouds 
over the city. I chase bad weather and stormy 
skies! One photo with special meaning is of a 
leopard up a tree in South Africa that I took with 
my cheap point and shoot camera. It was this 
shot that inspired me to work out how to use 
a camera properly. Also, a shot I took of a huge 
storm shelf passing over the Opera House. I was 
on my way to an evening urology meeting when 
I could see this enormous storm heading to the 
city.  I ditched the urology meeting as the photo 
opportunity was just too good!
If your colleagues bumped into you on 
a day off, where would they most likely 
find you? 
I would love to say I’d be on a hike or in the gym 
doing a workout. The truth is if it’s a Sunday, I will 
be in my pyjamas at home watching something 
awful on Netflix and wondering what my 
colleagues are doing in my living room! That or 
taking photos somewhere around the harbour.
If you could give one piece of advice to 
your younger self, what would it be?
Cherish every moment as the years will go by 
faster than you can imagine.
