Types of Accommodation

Short-term (Guest) Accommodation

Short-term accommodation is from 1 night up to 6 weeks and is provided and charged as Guest accommodation.  A Booking Fee is payable as confirmation of the reservation.  The Booking Fee is applied to the first night's accommodation charge. Refund of the Booking Fee is conditional. Please refer to the Residence Schedule of Fees for conditions.  Reservations can be made through Residence Reception on (02) 9487 9333 during our Reception Hours.

Long-term (Residential) Accommodation

Long-term accommodation is from 7 weeks onward and is charged as Residential accommodation.  Application is in writing on the Residential Application Form and it must be submitted, together with all required paperwork to the Residence Manager.  An Application Fee is payable at the time of submitting a Residence Application Form. For all residence charges please refer to the Residence Schedule of Fees.

Priority for long-term accommodation is given to SAH staff and Avondale Bachelor of Nursing students.  Where vacancies exist, rooms may be offered to other individuals at the discretion of the Residence Manager. 

Successful applicants are required, at check-in, to sign an Occupancy Agreement.  An Occupancy Agreement, signed by the resident and Residence staff represents a license to occupy a room within the Residence. This license is conditional.  The conditions under which a resident is granted a license to occupy a room are outlined in the Resident Handbook.  The Occupancy Agreement forms part of the Resident Handbook and the two are intrinsically linked.

Resident Accommodation Facilities & Inclusions

Resident rooms consist of a single bedroom with bed, wardrobe and desk.  Each level of the Ladies and Men’s residences has shared facilities with:

  • Kitchen including fridge, microwave, stove with oven and grill, toaster and electric kettle,
  • Laundry including washing machines and clothes dryers,
  • Lounge room including television and DVD player,
  • Bathroom including showers and baths, and 
  • Toilets

Three different styles of rooms are provided within the Residence.  The majority of rooms provided in the Residence come under the Weekly Base Rate.  The Residence Manager allocates all rooms, firstly under specific eligibility criteria and secondly on availability. 

Residents provide their own bed linen, cooking utensils and cooking equipment.

Guest Accommodation Facilities & Inclusions

Guest rooms consist of a single bedroom with bed, wardrobe and desk.  Bed linen, a pillow and bath towel are provided in the room at check-in.  A small heater and fan are also provided for our guest’s comfort.  The guest maintains housekeeping during any reservation period.  Clean linen and towel are available on request at Reception.  The Residence shared facilities of kitchen, laundry, lounge room, bathroom and toilets are available for guest use.  Basic cooking kits are available from Reception, for a small deposit, for those guests who wish to provide meals for themselves.
