Residence Accommodation

The Sydney Adventist Hospital (SAH) Residence is located on the SAH Estate. The aim of the Residence is to provide a safe Christian environment, which promotes respect within community living, tolerance and acceptance of personal status and cultural diversity.

The Residence provides accommodation for 94 men and 126 women. Accommodation is gender specific. Individuals are requested to respect the gender specific living areas of the Residence by not entering the opposite gender area without approval. Approval can be sought from the Residence Manager or Receptionist on duty. ‘Open House’ is the exception to this requirement. Conditions of entry apply for Open House. Full details are available at Reception.

As residents, the Residence is viewed as your home and as such your privacy is valued. Residents are free to come and go from the building at their leisure. Although it is not a requirement, management would encourage residents to advise Residence staff when they will be away from the Residence for extended periods of time. As the Residence is a caring community, absences can be a cause for concern when the resident is absent over long periods of time and nobody knows where they are. The expectations of residents and the requirements of management are outlined in the Resident Handbook.

Access to the Residence is through a Security Identification (ID) Card system. For SAH staff and Avondale University College students this ID card is provided free of charge, all other residents will be required to purchase an ID card at the cost advertised in the Residence Schedule of Fees. It is essential that residents keep their room key and ID card with them at all times to allow unimpeded access in and out of the building. It is also highly recommended that residents keep their rooms locked when they are not in them.

Age restrictions apply within the Residence and are outlined as follows:

  • Residential applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Students of Avondale University College studying the Bachelor of Nursing who have not yet turned 18 years of age will be required to contact the Housing Services Manager a minimum of 6 weeks before planned accommodation check-in to discuss application process requirements.
  • Guests must be 18 years of age or older to individually occupy a room.
  • Reservations for guests under the age of 18 years will only be taken when an adult accompanies them.  The adult is responsible, at all times, for direct supervision of the under aged guest within the Residence.  Guests under the age of 18 years will not individually occupy a room.
