Up to 1,000 San mums & bubs enjoy Teddy Bears Picnic

Up to 1,000 San babies, mothers and supporters attended the 2016 San Teddy Bear’s Picnic on Wednesday May 4.

An annual event for San babies and their mothers, the picnic was held as an advance celebration of Mother’s Day providing an opportunity for families to reunite with the doctors and nurses who delivered their babies.

Speaking at the occasion, MC of the event Obstetrician Dr Peter Wood said that it was a great day for a picnic. “It is a celebration of all mums who had babies here and they are all welcome”.

The biggest hit of the picnic was children’s entertainer Jay Laga’aia whose songs had mothers and toddlers dancing.

The Play School star congratulated and commended the hospital for the event.

“It is a beautiful day and a great turnout.

You don’t see too many hospitals out there doing the backup work after the kids are born. Sydney Adventist Hospital always seems to get it right.”

Activities included the TumbleTown Play Centre and Little Gym, storytelling from Nurse Noelene, and balloon artistry.
