Operation Open Heart Receives $10,000 Donation

Dave Rose and Peter Knox from Heart Kids NSW donated 10,000 to Operation Open Heart Fiji,  a charity run by the San.
The generous donation from Heart Kids NSW will help cover the medical expenses of 3 Fijian children, who without this surgery may not survive.

Healthcare Outreach Manager Michael Were said “each operation costs the organisation about $3,500 and this year’s team aims to perform as many as 40 procedures.”

Operation Open Heart will travel to Fiji for the 21st time in May 2012 and since its beginning in 1986, 658 life changing operations have been performed by medical staff who volunteer their time and expertise.

The Sans Flow Manager and Project Leader for Fiji, Melanie Windus, will be participating in Operation Open Heart for the 10th year this May and said “there is always more children than we can operate on and until Fiji has a full cardiac theatre of their own, donations like this will ensure this life changing program continues.”
This is the 3rd consecutive annual donation of $10,000 from Heart Kids NSW.
