Guided Maternity Tours

San Guided Maternity TourSan Maternity Tours postponed from March 13

This is a precautionary measure in the interests of maximising the health and safety of our babies and mothers, other patients, visitors and staff. Please enjoy the virtual tour of our maternity unit at

We are disappointed that the current world-wide situation has led to this, but we understand our responsibility to help with community wide containment measures. This measure builds on the existing Hospital proactive processes including patient screening, changes to visitor arrangements, and additional hygiene measures implemented by our infection prevention and control team.

We appreciate the support and understanding of our community during this time while we work proactively to help contain the spread of COVID 19.

Please see updated advice about proactive measures by the Hospital in regards to coronavirus at

Thank you for your interest in San Maternity. The San has been delivering babies for more than 100 years and has a long-standing reputation for outstanding wholistic care for mothers and babies.

Having a baby is a joyous and momentous occasion and choosing where to have your baby is an important decision. If you are already expecting or just thinking about having a baby, come and visit us to see why approximately 2000 mothers choose the San each year to have their baby.

Our regular free tours provide you with everything you need to know about our special type of exceptional care, highly experienced doctors & midwives, facilities, education, support services and the kind of birth experience you can expect to have at the San.

Our guided tours are conducted by Maternity Midwives, giving you the chance to discuss and ask any questions that you may have as an expectant parent. Partners are more than welcome to attend, however we do request that, if possible, other children are not brought on the tours for the consideration of our current patients. Each tour includes a visit to the birthing unit, postnatal wards and our special care nursery.

Tours are conducted in an open and friendly environment to encourage questions, and numbers are limited on each tour to help achieve this.

Note: If you have already booked into our Choices in Childbirth or Caesarean Section prenatal course, a similar tour is also included with this course. If you would like to find out more about any of the courses we offer please see our various education and exercise class information.

If you have any enquiries, please email or call (02) 9480 4154.
