Robotic inguinal hernia repair: a new dawn
A/Prof Christos Apostolou - Upper Gastrointestinal Pancreatic, Liver & General Surgeon
A/Prof Apostolou will discuss current approaches in the management of inguinal and groin hernias, with a focus on the evolving role of robotic-assisted surgery. The session will cover patient selection, indications for surgery, and the advantages of robotic techniques in improving postoperative outcomes and patient recovery.
Updates in urology
Dr Ahmed Goolam - Urologist / Urological Robotic Surgeon
Dr Goolam will provide an update on the latest advancements in urology, focusing on novel treatments for prostate cancer, including focal therapy, and evolving approaches to the management of prostate and bladder cancers.
Aortic stenosis in men: the silent threat
Dr Jason Sharp - Interventional Cardiologist
Aortic stenosis is a serious yet often silent condition in men, who tend to present at a younger age with more severe disease. Dr Sharp will explore the latest research, diagnostic approaches, and treatment options, highlighting the impact of early detection and intervention on patient outcomes.

- Identify patients presenting with inguinal and groin hernias who require surgical intervention and specialist referral.
- Discuss novel therapies for prostate cancer, including focal therapy, and explain how these treatments impact patient care, enabling them to effectively support patients throughout their treatment journey.
- Identify patients at increased risk of aortic stenosis, initiate diagnostic work-up, determine referral timing, and support multidisciplinary management.
