“A race to the heart” – when should you send patients to emergency, and syncope related presentations

Dr Dennis Wang MB BS BSc (Med) MPH (Syd) FRACP
The presenter will discuss the management of syncope in an acute care setting including assessing women with chest pain presentations and a racing heart and when to send these patients to emergency.

Dr Wang is an interventional cardiologist. He completed his medical degree at the University of NSW in 1996, and obtained his Masters of Public Health at Sydney University in 2002. He obtained FRACP in 2006, and completed interventional cardiology training at Royal North Shore Hospital with specific interests in acute infarct angioplasty and echo imaging. Dr Wang practices at Sydney Adventist Hospital and has rooms in the San Clinic and the Coastal Cardiology Clinic.

Updates in endometriosis

Dr Sarah Choi MBBS, FRACP, PhD
The presenter will discuss updates in endometriosis including advances in minimally invasive gynaecological and laparoscopic surgery and the choices women have today for less invasive surgery of gynaecological conditions.

Dr Choi is a gynaecologist with expertise in endoscopic treatment of endometriosis, pelvic prolapse, pelvic masses and large fibroids. Passionate about a comprehensive medical/surgical management approach for pelvic pain and endometriosis, in 2015 she co-founded the multidisciplinary Complex Pelvic Surgery Unit at University of Western Sydney to offer a tertiary level of endometriosis surgery to improve patients’ quality of life and fertility outcomes.

Update and controversies in breast imaging

Dr Christine Shearman B. Med (Hons), FRANZCR
This presentation will cover the current topical issues in breast imaging, including the relevance in breast density evaluation, the benefits of tomosynthesis, the indications for contrast imaging including contrast mammography and diagnostic and screening MRI, the issues relating to the various biopsy techniques and the role of radiology in the setting of neoadjuvant chemotherapy.

Dr Shearman completed radiology training at RPAH, was a Senior Registrar in London, a Fellow in America, has worked in NSW Hospitals and private practice, works in Breastscreen NSW and has been a RANZCR Examiner for over a decade. Recently appointed supervising radiologist in Breast Imaging at the San, her focus is the development of personalised breast imaging incorporating new breast imaging technology.
