Structured Transition

All New Graduates employed at Sydney Adventist Hospital will experience the benefit of a structured transition within an individually tailored program. Program design will include the following features depending on the applicant’s career preference. The New Graduate program includes:

 

•  Comprehensive hospital and clinical orientation

 

•  A competency based framework providing clear learning objectives

 

•  Core competency assessment

 

•  Ward specific in-service and competency programs

 

•  Clinical study days

 

•  Access to nursing / midwifery seminars, workshops and continuing education

 

•  Free membership to the SAH Library which holds one of the largest and most current nursing collections in NSW

 

•  Registered Nurses complete three clinical rotations of four months in a broad range of specialties over twelve months

 

•  Registered Midwives will complete three clinical rotations in Maternity over a 12 month period

 

•  Enrolled Nurses will complete one six month placement

 

•  All New Graduates are supported by Clinical Nurse Educators, Preceptors and Clinical Nursing Specialists with in a structured Clinical Support Program

 

•  Formal and Informal feedback is provided routinely to offer encouragement, direction and guidance

 

•  Part-time programs may be negotiated with program coordinators

 

• New graduates may be offered continuing employment on completion of the program
