 ProfileDr Taylor is an Australian surgeon who specialises in minimally invasive surgery on the gastrointestinal tract. His main area of clinical practice is weightloss surgery, which comprises 80% of his practice casemix. He is highly experienced in this field of Medicine, and has performed over 1500 weightloss operations, including surgery on the super obese, complex redo surgery, and conversions from one operation type to another. Dr Taylor performs a number of different weightloss procedures, allowing him to offer unbiased advice and a tailored approach for each individual patient. He is the primary author of a number of scientific and research papers that have been presented at leading international congresses and published in respected medical journals, and is an active memeber of the Obesity Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand, The International Federation fo Surgery for Obesity, and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons. He has attended the University of Sydney and graduated with honours and was awarded the Robert Craig Prise for Surgery. He completed his training in General Surgery at the Royal North Shore Hospital before electing to undertake a further 3 years of full-time subspecialist training in Bariatric (obesity) and Upper Gastrointestinal surgery at renowned surgical units in Queensland and in the United States. His training in obesity surgery has covered all of the major operation types including complex revisional procedures, and has focused strongly on providing holistic multi-disciplinary patient aftercare support in order to acheive maximum results. He also performs complex upper gastrointestinal surgery including surgery on the liver, stomach, gallstones, adrenal glands, anti-reflux surgery, and abdominal hernia surgery with a particular focus on using lasproscopic (keyhole) approach.
 
 ResearchCraig Taylor has presented and published a number of leading papers dealing with Laparoscopic Surgery. His main areas of interest are Laparoscopic Hernia Repair, and surgery for morbid obesity. He is committed to the teaching of laparoscopic techniques to residents and registrars.
