 Profile:  Dr Boland graduated from Sydney University, and then completed Surgical training in the UK and at Sydney Hospital. He worked in the Sydney Melanoma Clinic at Sydney Hospital for three years, and as a General Surgeon at Sydney Hospital until 1999. Dr Boland is now in practice at Mona Vale and Hornsby as a consultant General Surgeon, with interests in Breast Melanoma and Skin Cancer Surgery, along with Laparoscopic Surgery including Hernia Repair. He was on the Council of the NSW Branch of the Australian Medical Association between 1988 and 1992, including two years as President in 1991 and 1992. Dr Boland maintains a strong interest in medical indemnity matters, including optimal quality care for patients. He was asked by the Provisional Liquidators of U.M.P. to be the interim Chairman of the group as it emerged from provisional liquidation. Dr Boland was appointed Chairman following the U.M.P. AGM in December 2003, and remains in this position.
