The San ‘Run For Life’ Fun Run held annually for the last nine years has been growing in popularity, attracting an increasing number of people from the community each year. In October 2009 a record-breaking 1,333 runners and walkers participated in the Run For Life, including professional runners, local & federal members of parliament, teams from local schools, staff and members of the community.
Run For Life competitors participate in either a 10km, 5km run or a 5km walk. This year the event commences at 8am on Sunday, 17 October 2010 on the Hospital’s front lawn. This area will be transformed into the ‘Run For Life Village’ on race day. The route continues from the front lawn through the Hospital grounds, onto the streets of Wahroonga and loops back to finish at the Run For Life Village where there will be a BBQ breakfast, entertainment and presentations.
Individuals, families and competitive runners will again be participating, while local primary and high school teams from schools such as Abbotsleigh, Loreto Normanhurst and Turramurra High will compete in the Schools Championship Cup. Corporate and Hospital teams round out the competition and again foster local community rivalry and spirit.
The San Run For Life provides an excellent opportunity for participants to demonstrate their commitment to the community and a healthy lifestyle. Equally important, it is always a lovely way to spend a beautiful spring morning!
