Reconditioning Exercises

Below are a series of general conditioning exercises that will assist you in improving muscle strength. They have been prepared by a San physiotherapist to ensure that your body is in the best shape possible prior to surgery and on your return home.

Prehab Reconditioning ExercisesSeated Knee Extension

Pull your toes up, tighten your thigh muscle and straighten your knee.

Hold for approx. 3 seconds and slowly relax your leg.

Repeat 10 times.

 

 


Prehab Reconditioning ExercisesSit to Stand

Stand up and then slowly sit down on the chair.

The exercise can be made easier or more difficult by changing the height of the chair.

Do not let your knees turn in or out.

Repeat 10 times.

 


Prehab Reconditioning ExercisesHeel Raises

Push up on your toes.

Repeat 10 times.

 

 

 


Prehab Reconditioning ExercisesMini Squats

Stand behind a chair and support yourself with both hands.

Slowly bend your hips and knees, trying to push your bottom back.

Keep your heels on the ground.

Do not let your knees turn in or out during the movement.

Repeat 10 times.


Prehab Reconditioning ExercisesStanding Hip Flexion

Hold onto the back of a chair and support yourself with both hands.

Lift one knee at a time.

Repeat 10 times on each leg.
