Sydney Adventist Hospital Maternity Unit
Sydney Adventist Hospital (SAH) is a not for profit private hospital participating in the clinical placement and training of midwifery students. We are committed to delivering the highest possible standard of health care in a friendly and supportive work environment. At SAH we average 2,200 births per year.
Our facilities include:
- Delivery Suite with 7 delivery room and two high dependency rooms
- Level 2 Special Care Nursery
- 29 bed Antenatal/Postnatal Unit
- Antenatal clinical placement are undertaken in Obstetrician’s rooms
- Lactation Consultants providing support as needed antenatally, during women’s postnatal stay in hospital and on an outpatient basis
- In hospital parent education classes
- Childbirth education classes either as evening or weekend sessions
- Antenatal education classes on babycare and breastfeeding
Midwifery education is highly valued and clinical support is available with maternity educators, clinical specialists and preceptors.
Enrolment for student midwives is through a centralised application for student midwives (CAPSM) www.health.nsw.gov.au/nursing/employment/index.asp. This recruitment process is only for registered nurses who are wishing to undertake post graduate training as student midwives. Interviews and selection will occur at local level.
