Prestigious appointment for the San’s Professor John Watson.

Associate Dean and Head of the Sydney Adventist Hospital Clinical School of The University of Sydney Professor John Watson has been appointed Deputy National Secretary of The Rhodes Trust in Australia, an educational charity that awards Rhodes Scholarships to students to study at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.

Professor of Medicine at the Sydney Medical School and practising Consultant Neurologist, Professor Watson is revered for his contributions to teaching, research and administration and in 2015 was honoured as Member of the Order of Australia (AM) ‘for significant service to medicine in the field of neurology, to medical education and administration, and through mentoring roles’.

Nine Australian Rhodes Scholarships are available for Australians each year.

Previous Rhodes Scholars from Australia include current Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, former Prime Minister Tony Abbott and former Prime Minister Bob Hawke.
