NEW ADVENTIST HEALTHCARE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER APPOINTED

Phil Currie has been appointed Group Chief Executive Officer of Adventist HealthCare as a result of the retirement of Dr Leon Clark who has led the Hospital team since 2002.

Phil Currie’s appointment follows the vote on September 8th by the South Pacific Division Executive Committee of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Phil has been Deputy CEO of AHCL/the San for the past 13 years.

His roles have included Director of Medical/ Surgical Nursing Services, Director of Business Development, Chief Operations Officer and the General Manager of Sydney Adventist Hospital.

His academic credentials include a Masters of Clinical Nursing and Bachelor of Health Science.

Phil commenced his career in health care as a student nurse at the San in 1984.

With over thirty years working in hospitals, twenty years in management, administration and senior leadership, and both a strong business and Adventist Mission focus, Phil is well positioned to lead Adventist HealthCare to consolidate the growth that has taken place in recent years.

He will build on the work of the successive generations of caring and committed individuals who have been central to the delivery of quality health care to our community since 1903.

His experience and that of other AHCL executive committee members and teams will ensure the ongoing excellent management of our flagship institution Sydney Adventist Hospital, Dalcross Adventist Hospital and San Day Surgery Hornsby.

Retiring CEO Dr Leon Clark will officially finish on site at the Hospital on September 18th.

“I know that I leave AHCL in good hands” said Dr Clark.

“My 24 years at the San has been the highlight of my professional life - following my parents who trained here at the San as nurses, my appointment to medical administration in 1991, as CEO in 2002 and as Group CEO in 2012.  It has been my great privilege to lead, work with, and alongside, so many talented people. I have seen first-hand how the San and its team compare with other facilities Australia-wide and I am proud that the San is genuinely revered as an Australian health care icon.  I look forward to continuing my links to the San and being of assistance where I can including my current role as Chairman of the San Foundation.”
