New name for the San's HealthCare Outreach program

Today the San’s humanitarian aid program HealthCare Outreach becomes Open Heart International.
The new name will be used for all the of the former programs operating under HealthCare Outreach; Operation Open Heart, Women’s Heath, Gift of Sight and Burns Reconstructive.
“Open Heart International’s new name reflects the openness and giving nature that all our volunteers display” said Michael Were, Open Heart International Manager.
“Combining all specialities and activities under one new name will enhance our fundraising opportunities and in turn enable us to provide more help to those in need” he said.
The humanitarian aid program began in 1986 when a San nurse visiting Tonga was appalled that Australia’s neighbours were dying from conditions easily treated here.

Since then more than 2000 volunteers from hospitals and facilities around Australia have
donated their time and medical expertise and contributed $10 million towards trip expenses during
more than 125 trips which have helped transform over 4300 lives.
