Sydney Adventist Hospital (SAH), is affectionately known to those living on the upper north shore as ‘the San’. The hospital was established in 1903 as a not-for-profit facility located in Fox Valley Road, Wahroonga. As an acute-care private hospital the San has 358 licensed overnight beds, and 12 operating theatres making it the largest single campus private hospital in NSW.
Over 2,200 staff and 700 accredited medical practitioners care for more than 50,000 inpatients and 160,000 outpatients annually. At present more than 2,000 mothers chose to have their babies at the San each year and the Emergency Care department admits over 20,000 patients each year to make it NSW’s largest and busiest private Hospital Emergency Department.
Offering acute surgical, medical and obstetric care including complex cardiac and orthopaedic procedures, the San also owns and operates San Day Surgery at Hornsby and the Dalcross Adventist Hospital, located in Killara.
Sydney Adventist Hospital is currently undergoing a major expansion [link to SAN redevelopment] of services and facilities. These include the addition of 180 new beds, 14 new operating theatres and new infrastructure to accommodate all the associated clinical services.
The Avondale College Faculty of Nursing and Health located on site is one of Australia’s last remaining on-site nursing schools and provides comprehensive nursing education in both under-graduate and post-graduate courses.
The San College of Education, a registered training organisation, is also located on site offering an extensive range of nationally recognised certificate programs to San employees, corporate clients and community members.
Graduate Program information nights are held regularly at Sydney Adventist Hospital in the San Education Beattie Complex Training Rooms.
