Dr Hollands completed his early surgical training at St Vincent's Hospital, Sydney, in 1976. After obtaining a surgical primary he completed his surgical training in the United Kingdom at Guy's Hospital and the Royal Postgraduate Medical School, Hammersmith. He has worked at Beth Israel Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Boston, and whilst in Hong Kong he worked in Queen Mary's Hospital. On return to Australia he was appointed Senior Registrar at St Vincent's Hospital. Dr Hollands is currently Head of Gastrointestinal and Hepatopancreatobilary Surgery at Westmead Hospital, the outgoing Chairman of the NSW Branch of the Australasian College of Surgeons, and Chairman of the Emergency Management of Severe Trauma Committee for the Royal Australian College of Surgeons. He is a member of the Australian Medical Association, Sydney Upper Gastrointestinal Surgical Society, Gastrointestinal Society of Australia, International Hepatopancreatobilary Association, Sydney Gut Club, Australian Association of Surgeons, and Surgical Research Society. Dr Hollands has admitting rights to Sydney Adventist Hospital, Westmead Private Hospital, Westmead Public Hospital, Auburn District Hospital, Castle Hill Day Surgery, and Castle Hill Hospital.


Dr Hollands has specific interest in Gastrointestinal and Hepatopancreatobilary Surgery, Trauma (especially Hepatic Trauma), Surgical Laparascopy, including Cholecystectomy, Bilary Surgery, Anti-Reflux Surgery, Inguinal Hernia, and in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
