Profile

Clinical Associate Professor Mark Haber is a specialist orthopaedic shoulder surgeon. He has a special interest in shoulder arthroscopic techniques to address shoulder instability and rotator cuff tears. He has pioneered modified techniques for arthroscopic rotator cuff and labral repairs. Since 2006 he has performed shoulder arthroscopy exclusively for repairing the rotator cuff avoiding the need for open surgery. He also has a special interest in shoulder replacement surgery. Dr Haber provides a convenient service with an on-site ultrasound machine and is able to perform ultrasound guided cortisone injections at the time of consultation. Dr Haber was awarded The Caspari Award for best upper limb paper at the ISAKOS Congress, Japan in 2009. He also received best paper award at The Shoulder and Elbow Society of Australia meeting in 2010. His research was placed in the "best posters category" at the ESSKA Congress in Norway in 2010 and was published in The Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, February 2015. He is a member of The Shoulder and Elbow Society of Australia, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, The European Society of Sports Injuries and Knee Arthroscopy, the Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association, the Australian Orthopaedic Association and Sports Medicine Australia.

 
Research

Clinical Associate Professor Mark Haber has been involved in ongoing research in surgical techniques for rotator cuff repair and shoulder instability. For his research he was awarded The Richard B. Caspari Award for best upper limb paper in the 7th Biennial ISAKOS Congress, Osaka, Japan in 2009. He also received best paper award at the 2010 The Shoulder and Elbow Society of Australia bi - annual meeting. A reesearch poster was placed in the "best posters category" at the 14th ESSKA Confress held in Oslo, Norway in June 2010. His recent research on the rehabilitation following rotator cuff repoar surgery was published in the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, February 2015. He continues to research into techniques and equipment which improve the ability to perform arthroscopic rotator cuff repair and instability surgery.
