Donations from the Foundation paid for a ventilator for surgical purposes for use by the San coordinated Health Care Outreach team in Myanmar. The Health Care Outreach teams save lives across the world.
Manoa Rokotovitovi is like any other active Fijian boy - thanks to the loving hands of volunteer Australian medical and nursing teams. Manoa had his life transforming heart surgery performed by volunteer Australian doctors from the San coordinated Health Care Outreach Program in 2006. He required a replacement heart valve. His family consider themselves lucky that he was chosen for surgery by the visiting team. “I give thanks.” said Saimone Ravivi, his father. “Manoa is very lucky and we are too because we would not have been able to afford to send him for surgery.” Without surgery, Manoa’s heart would have failed and he would have died.
Similarly Nepali toddler Surekha Kumari Ram has had her life transformed after surgery to repair a cleft palate defect – skills passed onto Nepalese surgeons by their Australian colleagues.
