Community Information

As part of our mission, both the Hospital itself and many of our staff are actively involved in supporting the local community, charitable organisations and humanitarian programs. Some of the community programs and charitable endeavors supported by the hospital include: Rotary programs and medical outreach initiatives, Dragons Abreast, Pink Ribbon Day, Australia's Biggest Morning Tea, Oxfam walk, Movember, Shave for a Cure, Red Nose Day, Jeans for Genes, Relay for Life and many more.

To see some stories about our community involvement and happenings at the San you may like to download our biannual publication San News.

We are also part of the Seventh-day Adventist Church with strong ties to the church community and its mission of health and healing. The church regularly provides health programs, vegetarian cooking classes, healthy living publications and much much more to all members of the community. For more information visit the South Pacific Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Our sister organisation, Sanitarium, also provides excellent nutritional information and delicious vegetarian recipes on their website. Visit Sanitarium to find out more.

We also welcome and encourage community members to get involved in the San through our thriving volunteer program with over 400 volunteers of all ages. This is a great way to make new friends, have fun, and contribute your valuable time and skills to helping others. See Volunteering to find out more.

A vital part of ensuring that the San, as a not-for-profit hospital is continually able to keep abreast of technological advances and offer world-class services is through the generous support of our donors. The SAH Foundation works closely with the Hospital to identify most needed medical equipment and services where donations will provide the most benefit.

As an extension of our mission of care, the San's medical outreach extends well beyond Australia. Through our Health Care Outreach program the San carries out vital medical care and training in international communities throughout the Asia Pacific region.
