Appointments

For all appointments, please call San Nutrition on (02) 9487 9581 during business hours, Monday to Friday, or email.

Initial Appointment

During your visit, our outpatient Dietitian will make an evaluation through discussion of your current food consumption, medical background, lifestyle, family and work as well as taking some physical measurements. Relevant dietary education (including handouts to take home) will be provided and goals negotiated. The outpatient Dietitian, yourself and your primary care physician (if appropriate) will collaborate to create an individualised treatment plan. A letter to your referring health professional will also be sent to let them know what we have planned, where required.

Review Appointment

During a review appointment we discuss your progress and any difficulties you may be having implementing your goals. Any questions you may have will be answered, and some further education may take place – this could be regarding a new topic or expanding on an existing issue. Practical advice and encouragement are always available for your support, with new goals being set as necessary to help you stay motivated.

Referrals

A written doctors referral is preferred to ensure appropriate dietary recommendations, yet not essential. Fees can be partially reimbursed by most private health funds, and pensioner rates are available. Medicare will pay a rebate for services provided by Dietitians, where they are treating complex conditions under a care plan coordinated by a GP. This rebate service is for the treatment of medical conditions that have been present, or are likely to be present for at least six months, and includes conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, asthma, cancer and kidney disease.
