A diagnosis of cancer is usually accompanied by intense emotions including shock, fear and anxiety for the patient and family members. The Cancer Support Centre and Jacaranda Lodge were founded in 1993 to provide support for all those in the community affected by cancer. Trained staff and volunteers are able to provide assistance to help people regain a sense of control over their lives.
The Cancer Support Centre provides a wide range of services to the community, including support groups, education lectures, counselling, resources and information, and massage and reflexology services, in a warm, comforting and supportive environment.
Jacaranda Lodge provides low cost accommodation in a comforting, warm environment for country outpatients and for families of Hospital patients who live at a distance from the San.
